Death of Queen Elizabeth: With tears in their eyes, thousands of people leave flowers at Buckingham Palace

Thousands people gathered outside Buckingham Palace in London, with tears in his eyes, and they all sang together, spontaneously, “God Save the Queen” when news of her death broke.

One double rainbow loomed over the London skyline just before the crowd fell into silence, the moment when the flag was lowereda sign that the queen is no longer alive.

“We grew up with her always there”said Councilor Margaret Parris, tears streaming down her face. Paris did a 32km route to be at the Palace, having heard earlier that the Queen was unwell.

THE Elizabeth died peacefully at her home in Scotland, at the age of 96. Her eldest son, Charles, 73 years old, he is now king.

In Buckingham, 22-year-old student Adam Wilkinson-Hill arrived with a hug of white lilies, on behalf of a group of his friends who could not be found in the capital. “It’s a huge shock to the nation,” he said.
