Death toll in South Korea plane crash rises to 179

The final death toll from the plane crash in South Korea has risen to 179, meaning only two people survived, the country’s fire department said.

Two crew members survived the Jeju Air crash after being extricated from the plane’s tail, authorities previously reported. Both are in the hospital, but their health conditions are not yet known.

Among the dead, 84 were men and 85 were women, while the genders of 10 people have not been confirmed, according to officials.

Worst plane crash in decades

According to local authorities, 179 people died in the plane crash in South Korea on Sunday (29).

This is the country’s worst air disaster in decades. Two people survived, both crew members.

The Jeju Air plane was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members when it crash-landed at Muan County Airport. Everyone on board was South Korean except for two Thai citizens.
