Agents of the Amazonas Military Fire Department (CBMAM) found a body near the Porto Braga Community, on the Solimões River, where the vessel “M Monteiro” caught fire this Monday (29). With the death, the number of fatalities rises to five of the accident.
The body has not yet been identified and was transferred to the municipality of Uarini (AM), almost 600 kilometers from the capital of Amazonas, according to the government of Amazonas. This Thursday (1st) is the third day of searching for missing people .
The searches inside the vessel were concluded, after an inspection was carried out inside the site. In the coming days, the firefighters will continue diving and also on the surface of the Solimões River.
A woman and a child, victims of the fire, remain hospitalized in Manaus (AM) and in stable health condition. A victim who was transferred to the municipality of Tefé (AM) was discharged this Wednesday (31).
The state government reports that it has provided professionals from the State Health Department (SES-AM) to the site and has offered medicines and supplies to reinforce the health units in Tefé (AM) and Uarini (AM); Civil Defense employees and firefighters. Among the agents are divers and specialists in pre-hospital care.
The boat left the capital on July 27, from the Port of Manaus (Roadway) and had Tabatinga (AM) as its destination.
The Brazilian Navy deployed the River Patrol Vessel “Amapá” from the 9th Naval District Command and the mobile team from the Navy Port Authority Agency in Tefé to the site to assist in the search for aid for the victims.
An aircraft from the 1st General Purpose Helicopter Squadron of the Northwest also assisted in the rescues.
