A man sentenced to the last of the penalties for murder committed in 1976, who remained incarcerated in a prison for almost half a century pending his execution, was killed Wednesday in the state of Mississippi, south, USA. Richard Jordan, 79, was executed last night with deadly injectable chemicals. He was imposed on the death penalty for the abduction and murder of the Bank’s wife in 1976. The victim, Eduina Marter, was 34 years old. The execution was the first in the state of Mississippi after two and a half years. The previous one took place in December 2022. It was the second that was planned to take place in the US this week, after that of Thomas Goudina, 51 years old, third in Florida yesterday. He had been sentenced to death for rape and murder in 1994 by Michel McGrath. In total, 25 executions have been made in the US since the beginning of this year.
