Debts in the electricity market are under control

Of Thanks to Floudopoulos

The debts of the electricity providers to the managers were at the center of a teleconference held yesterday by the Energy Regulatory Authority and in which the competent Minister of Environment and Energy K. Skrekas participated.

These are the amounts that the providers collect through the accounts and which they then have to return to the managers, however due to the extraordinary conditions prevailing in the market, some delays have appeared.

Specifically, through the electricity bills, the distribution fees intended for HEDNO, the transportation fees for IPTO, the ETMEAR for DAPEEP as well as the municipal fees are collected.

According to the picture that emerged from yesterday’s meeting, the total amount of debts to managers amounts to 272.7 million euros, while another 70 million euros is the debt to municipalities.

Of this amount, most of the approximately 211 million euros relate to debts to HEDNO, 53 million euros relate to DAPEEP and 8.7 million relate to IPTO.

It is noted that after the ministerial decision issued last August by the competent minister K. Skrekas, to provide guarantees from suppliers, most of these debts are in settlement and while letters of guarantee have been issued for the rest.

In other words, the image transmitted by competent sources is that the situation is under control and does not inspire much concern, especially if compared to the recent past when the debts to managers had reached multiple.

In fact, the debts per supply company are relatively low, starting at 5 million euros and reaching a maximum of 30 million euros, ie they are relatively small in relation to the turnover and the size of the market.

An exception to the big picture are two companies which appear to have rather high debts that are not guaranteed or regulated and which are under close scrutiny.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that in the coming days there will be new teleconferences on the issue, while RAE has asked the managers to send detailed data on the amount of debts of providers.
