Starting September 1st, Google is adding the Presearch decentralized search engine as an option for Android devices in the UK and the EU.
The Presearch search engine is optionally installed on Android devices and will be available for selection by default. Presearch is backed by a community of node operators that handle user searches and are rewarded through an Ethereum-based PRE token.
Google’s decision to include Presearch as a default browser search engine follows a lengthy legal battle with the European Commission. The tech company has been accused of using Android to curb competition and strengthen its dominance in search engines.
About 70% of smartphone owners in Europe use the Android operating system, which means that the Presearch search engine has a lot of potential to grow its user base.
