Defender, the unmistakable

Among the contemporary reinterpretations of classic models in the history of the automobile, the Land Rover Defender is one of the happiest: even at first glance it is immediately associated with the all-wheel drive British off-road vehicle created by Rover in the late 1940s. And its tall, massive and boxy silhouette makes its unmistakable personality stand out above most cars on the road.

Offered in three to five door versions with different dimensions and engines (models 90, 110 and 130), from 200 to 635 horsepower of the “very bad” OCTA, todayThe Defender is a high-end car, with a base price of around seventy thousand euros, but capable of expressing the inspiration for the freedom and adventure of the original model.

First of all for the considerable height from the ground, typical of a thoroughbred off-road vehicle, which makes it clear at a glance the type of machine in which you are taking a seat. Then for i numerous details that recall the heritage of the Defender, of which we were able to try the 90 S model: from the roof windows to the spare wheel, from the side-opening tailgate to the squared wheel arches.

The Defender, of course, lacks nothing in terms of technology available on the most sophisticated contemporary cars, from driving assistance to the entertainment system with 11.4-inch touch screen central console. But all its lines, from the external ones to the design of the dashboard, express essentiality and cleanliness, convey solidity and compactness, making the Defender a unique and immediately recognizable combination of elegance, functionality and power, at ease both in an urban scenario and in an off-road adventure.
