Delays and passenger inconvenience remain due to technical problem in UK air traffic

It “collapsed” yesterday air traffic in Europe with its National Air Traffic Service (NATS). Britain being forced to make restrictions due to a technical issue that had arisen. However, the technicians were able to resolve the issue but delays remain.

As a result images of chaos were created at the airports with them passengers to suffer for many hours in the middle of the tourist season. The problem was fixed after about seven hours, but delays continue.

The technical problem occurred yesterday afternoon and caused the electronic flight plan management system to crash, resulting in the related handling having to be done manually. It is traditionally one of the busiest days at UK airports and one of the busiest days of the year as travelers return to the UK just days before the start of the new school year. For his part, the British Minister of Transport Mark Harper acknowledged that flights are “unfortunately still affected”.

Despite the resolution of the issue announced by National Air Traffic Service (NATS), problems with arrivals and departures will continue for some time to come.

“We have identified and fixed the technical issue affecting the flight scheduling system. We work closely with airlines and airports to manage the affected flights as efficiently as possible. Our engineers will be closely monitoring system performance as we return to regular function,” NATS reported earlier.

According to SKY from Britain 230 flights have been canceled and to Britain 271 flights, while in total the flights that have been canceled exceed 500. The delays reach 12 hours in some cases, and concern four out of five flights involving British airports. About 80 flights have been affected for passengers from Greece.
