Home security camera at Miamiin the US state of Florida “caught” the moment when one distributor spat on the food he just delivered.
13-year-old Elias Crissado reported the incident which went viral on social media as it is a growing trend in the US with distributors spitting on customers’ food in the belief that the gratuities that they receive is not enough. There have also been reactions to the distributors’ fees from the companies that employ them.
Crisando, therefore, claimed that he ordered food for himself and his mother and emphasized that he gave a three-dollar tip to the delivery man, estimating that the amount was sufficient since the distance traveled by the delivery man was less than one kilometer. Of course, judging by the result, the distributor did not agree.
The camera captured the moment the delivery person reaches the door, puts the bag of food on the ground and stands back to take a picture. When he looks at his phone and sees how much he was left for a tip, the video shows him bending over and spitting out the order three times before leaving.
“He got angry because maybe he thought the tip was small and spat on the food,” the 13-year-old said. “If it wasn’t for the dashcam footage, no one would have known. I wanted to vomit. Who does this?’ the young man said according to NBC Miami.
The food delivery company looked into the incident and said in a statement that “While we understand his frustration with the tip, this behavior is unacceptable and falls far short of the high quality service we aim to provide. We removed the distributor from our platform and contacted the customer directly to help make things right”.
