Delivery of the Jabuti Award takes place this Thursday (25); see the finalists

The delivery of the 63rd Jabuti Award, which honors the best literary works in the country, takes place this Thursday (25th), from 7:00 pm (GMT), broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL).

The award is divided into four main areas: literature, non-fiction, editorial production and innovation, which comprise the 20 categories in which the judges award marks. If there is a tie, there will be a final evaluation by the judging committee of the specific group and by the Jabuti 2021 Award Curator Council, whose decision is sovereign.

Winners in each category receive a tortoise-shaped figurine and a R$5,000 prize. The winner of the “Book of the Year” is awarded R$100,000.

There was a 31% increase in entries compared to the 2020 edition, with approximately 3,400 works competing in total.

There were still changes in the current edition: the book axis became editorial production and the essay axis is now called non-fiction.

The Brazilian book published abroad category also underwent changes. Decorating national and international publishers together, in addition to taking the tortoise figurine distributed to the winners, the Brazilian publisher will be awarded a Translation Support Grant in the amount of R$5,000.00 to translate a book from Portuguese into any other language.
