The necessity of supporting and strengthening dairy farming in the face of the challenges it faces due to the increases in the prices of energy, animal feed and agricultural supplies, was pointed out by the managing director of DELTA TROFIMA, Christos Tsolkas, in the context of a meeting he had yesterday, Wednesday, July 13, with the Minister of the Ministry of AAT, Giorgos Georgantas.
According to information, Mr. Tsolkas, referring to the problems of the sector, proposed a series of measures to the minister which include, among others, the stimulation of liquidity for producers through financial institutions and contract farming programs, as well as securing additional subsidies of of animal feed and increased linked payments to producers.
The managing director of the largest Greek dairy industry, focused on the necessity of taking emergency measures financed by community resources, such as the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, as well as the acceleration of the procedures related to development laws for stable facilities as well as the securing of increased resources.
Finally, he suggested a drastic increase in the amount of support for the cultivation of forage plants and protein-based fodder, with the use of fodder mainly for animal husbandry as opposed to the production of biofuels.
