Demand for tour packages for July rises 100%, says industry association

The commercialization of tourism packages among Brazilians for the July holidays increased by 100%, when compared to the same period in 2021. The greater demand is a reflection of the improvement in the epidemiological scenario of Covid-19 and the advance of vaccination against the disease.

The growing increase in demand for tourist services was detected in a survey prepared by the Brazilian Association of Travel Agents (Abav). The unique data was advanced to the CNN this Thursday (30).

After almost two years without the possibility of international travel, the demand for destinations outside Brazil more than doubled. For July, 45% of closed tour packages have other countries as their final destination, while 55% are for domestic trips.

In 2021, only 20% of packages were abroad.

The survey also shows that, within Brazil, the Northeastern states are the most sought after for the July holidays. When the destination is international, countries like Argentina and the United States lead the ranking.

According to the president of Abav, Magda Nassar, the demand for international travel could be even greater, if the exchange rate were not so high.

She explains that the high cost of the dollar and the euro makes much of the planning impossible.

“Compared to this year, we had practically no international tourism in 2021. The coronavirus situation was still very difficult. In 2022, the outlook is much more positive, there are a lot of people looking. And this result could be even better, if the real hadn’t been so undervalued”, evaluates Magda Nassar to CNN .
