Demi Moore defends nude scenes in “The Substance”: “They were not sexualized”

The actress Demi Moore 62, believes that recording the nude scenes in the film “The Substance” was different from other experiences throughout her career.

The star, who won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Film for her performance in the film, explained that the “takes” were not sexualized in nature and that they served to help her “exploit your own vulnerability “.

In the film, directed by filmmaker Coralie Fargeat Demi plays Elisabeth Sparkle, a fitness guru with a declining career who turns to a mysterious drug to create a younger, sexier version of herself, played by Margaret Qualley.

“It was a very vulnerable experience, and we had a lot of conversations about it. However, the scenes took me to an authentic place that needed to be reached. From my point of view, I didn’t feel like they were sexualized since many of them were with me”, she told Woman magazine.

He continued: “We are often naked when we are alone, in these moments of self-perception and self-criticism . I think the depth of vulnerability and the impact it had on me was essential in helping me find my own vulnerability.”

The Hollywood veteran also spoke about ageism, stating that, unlike her character, she learned not to value only appearance .

This place where she feels completely rejected and in total despair I think there’s something there that all of us – not just women – feel strongly about. we can identify ourselves as human beings . I certainly went through this at different times in my life, when I placed too much emphasis on my exterior and not enough on my interior,” he said.

“Ironically, this happened when I was much younger. Specifically, in the scene where [minha personagem] you’re about to break out of your self-imposed prison to go on a date… I think in trying to fix yourself up or trying to make things better, sometimes you can end up making things worse. Again, I think we’ve all been through moments like this. Not already?”

The star of “Ghost – On the Other Side of Life” (1990) explained that society still makes women believe that they are less important as they get older.

“With regards to aging, I think there is a collective agreement, perhaps even implicit, where, up until now, women have been kind of relegated to the sidelines as they get older. Or, like in the movie, when your fertility disappears, you somehow become less desirable. And the reality is that we all kind of agree with that, but that’s just not true,” he pointed out.
