Demi Moore is enjoying critical acclaim for her performance in the film “The Substance,” while also opening up about behind-the-scenes filming.
During a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, the 61-year-old star discussed playing an aging actress who takes a substance to become a “younger, better version of herself,” who is played in the film by Margaret Qualley. , 29 years old.
The horror comedy includes full nude scenes of Demi Moore. She talked about how they worked on it and was joined at the press conference by co-star Dennis Quaid and the film's director Coralie Fargeat.
“From the beginning, it was really clear the level of vulnerability and rawness that was really needed to tell the story,” said Demi.
“It was a very vulnerable experience and required a lot of sensitivity and a lot of conversations about what we were trying to accomplish.”
In Qualley, who was not present at the press conference, Demi said she had found “someone who was a great partner” with whom she felt very safe and said the pair shared “a lot of lightness in these moments of how absurd certain situations were” when they met. It dealt with the nude scenes.
She was also asked about feeling “cancelled” in Hollywood because of her age.
“I don’t know if I share that perspective of feeling canceled,” she said. “My particular perception is that regardless of what is happening outside of you, the real issue is how you are relating to the problem.”
“I don’t consider myself to be a victim,” Moore added.
Quaid noted that in the past, actresses were “discarded” after the age of 40, but that is no longer the case.
