The Democratic Mayors Association, after a video call with President Joe Biden on Tuesday night (9), said it is “in favor of the Biden-Harris alliance.”
Biden has spoken to Democratic mayors across the country as part of his effort to build support outside Washington, even as some members of his party continue to express doubts about the future of his candidacy.
“The stakes of this election could not be higher and the choice could not be clearer. We need a president and vice president who will stand up for working families, defend our democracy and protect our freedoms,” the association said in a statement on social media after the call with the US president.
“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are that president and vice president, and President Biden showed tonight that he is fully committed to working with us to defeat Donald Trump once and for all,” the Democratic mayors added.
The New York Times reported that nearly 200 Democratic mayors were on the video call with Biden on Tuesday night (9).
The Association of Democratic Mayors is made up of mayors of cities with a population of 30,000 or more, according to the group’s website.
