Democritus University of Thrace and SEV join forces

A multi-benefit cooperation agreement for both young people, students and researchers, as well as for businesses, especially in the Greek region, was signed by the administrations of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) and SEV, yesterday (Tuesday, February 22, 2022), in meeting held at the University Campus of Komotini.

The cooperation agreement includes a number of immediately feasible initiatives and actions aimed at linking education and research with the labor market and business, as well as strengthening the perspective and capabilities of the country’s human resources.

The DUTH-SEV agreement consolidates the common will for a more substantial connection and cooperation of universities, research centers and companies – as, after all, happened with the recent cooperation agreement with the Athens University of Economics, NTUA, EP Democritus, industrial doctorates University of Patras, the internship for members of the Association, but also the AIMinds academy in collaboration with SAS at universities in the country.

What does the DUTH-SEV cooperation agreement include?

DUTH is one of the most important universities in the Greek region. The cooperation agreement includes the following areas:

– “Skills upgrade”through education and training programs and especially in the digital and soft skills required in the labor market and in accordance with the BSE proposals and the available resources.

– “Digital transformation” through specialized laboratories and programs for executives of BSE member companies, but also the provision of specialized mentoring to and from BSE member companies.

– “Business Innovation”, for both start-ups and existing businesses, who want to implement new ideas for the production and distribution of their products at home or abroad.

– “Interconnection with Industry” by offering an internship for the acquisition of modern professional skills, according to the needs of the labor market.

– “Liaison with research” with a BSE contribution to the work of the Technology Transfer Office of DUTH, in order to accelerate the utilization of intellectual property, the organization of networking meetings for the development of collaborations between industry and business with the spinoffs and the research community of DUTH, through the initiative of SEV Innovation .

-“Applied research”. Elaboration of applied academic research on issues related to the interest of BSE member companies, through the elaboration of doctoral dissertations by PhD candidate researchers at DUTH. Preparation of analyzes or studies on issues related to the interest of BSE member companies. Indicatively, this action can be implemented through the elaboration of diploma theses of the Postgraduate students of DUTH.

– “Interconnection and networking with the labor market-Exchange of Knowledge” with specialist meetings, lectures and “career days” and business visits.

After the signing of the cooperation agreement, the Chairman of the Executive Committee of SEV, Mr. Efthymios O. Vidalis stated: “With the signing of the agreement between DUTH and SEV, we further strengthen the ties between companies and DUTH in a region of national importance. and companies will work closely together to encourage the exchange of knowledge, technology transfer and modern skills as critical issues for innovation as well as students’ professional careers. to the challenges of the time, and to enhance regional development, accelerating the technological transformation and empowerment of our young people “.

The Rector of DUTH, Professor Alexandros Ch. Polychronidis, among others, pointed out: “Today the cooperation of the academic community of education and research with the Greek economy and the labor market is sealed.
