Department of Health advises bathers not to enter the sea 24 hours after rain

The Government of the State of São Paulo, amid the increase in virus cases, stated on Tuesday (07), that bathers should not swim in the sea for 24 hours after periods of rain .

The guidance from the State Department of Health is that the population should take preventive care to avoid diseases transmitted by water and food, especially in periods with high temperatures.

According to the director of the Division of Waterborne and Foodborne Diseases of the State Department of Health, Alessandra Lucchesi, bathers need to take additional precautions in situations like this, where there is an increase in cases of Foodborne Disease (DTA).

Therefore, personal hygiene must be reinforced and the sanitary conditions of bars and restaurants must be well observed.

Alessandra also advises that hand washing should be intensified and water consumption should be limited to that of reliable origin, preferably mineral or filtered. Furthermore, the director reinforces that: “Food must also be prepared and stored properly, always refrigerated.”

Outbreak

Baixada Santista is facing a virus outbreak, with more than 7,500 cases of the disease, according to a survey by the CNN . The government of São Paulo and the State Department of Health reported that they continue to monitor the situation on the coast.
