Depp-Herd Trial: Actress Counterattack – Planning to Appeal

Judicial defeat for Amber Heard in the controversial case, in which she had against her ex-husband Johnny Depp. The actress seems to have decided not to accept the decision of the American jury and to appeal.

Herd’s 36-year-old spokesman Alafair Hall told the New York Times that the actress plans to appeal. More details about her move have not been disclosed, as noted by the Daily Mail. In order for the appeal to be accepted, Herd will probably have to prove that there were errors in the trial or in the reading of the law by the presiding judge, the publication notes.

A Virginia court has ruled that Amber Heard defamed her ex-husband Johnny Depp, presenting herself as a victim of domestic violence, awarding the Hollywood star $ 15 million in damages. At the same time, however, he partially acquitted Herd – who had responded with her own lawsuit on the occasion of the statements of Depp’s lawyer, who had characterized her accusations as a “hoax” – awarding compensation of 2 million dollars.

“The court gave me back my life,” Johnny Depp said in relief on an Instagram post after the verdict was announced.

“Overwhelmed,” said Amber Heardarguing that “the mountain of evidence” was not enough against the much greater power and influence of her ex-husband.

The scandalous trial was marked by mutual accusations of domestic violence and brought to light unknown aspects of the personal lives of the two Hollywood stars.

Since April 11, dozens of witnesses have testified before jurors, while audio and visual recordings have revealed scandalous details of the couple’s life together that have nothing to do with Hollywood glamor.

Johnny Depp had lost a defamation lawsuit in London in 2020, against the British tabloid The Sun, which had described him as a “violent husband”.

The two actors divorced in 2017 and both sides state that they lost 40-50 million dollars from the fall of their case after the article was published in the Washington Post.
