Deputies debate impacts of the PEC of the Explosion

Deputies Henrique Fontana (PT) and Altineu Côrtes (PL), in a debate held by the CNN this Thursday (17th), they analyzed what the impacts of the PEC do Explosion should be. The draft delivered foresees an overflow in the spending ceiling that could reach R$ 198 billion.

Both agree that a Bolsa Família worth BRL 600 should be established, however, they disagree with respect to the spending ceiling.

According to Henrique Fontana, the proposal brings the consolidation “of a robust Bolsa Família like Brazil needs. And it is a PEC of the return of the appreciation of the minimum wage”.

The deputy still remembers the period of the previous governments of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). According to Fontana, the 8 years of the PT’s government “showed the way we deal and the importance we give ourselves to the search for fiscal balances”.

Altineu Côrtes points out that the PT was against increasing the value of the current Auxílio Brasil by R$ 600, when the proposal was voted, claiming respect for the spending ceiling.

“Investors in Brazil today are experiencing maximum tension. We have almost R$ 1 trillion in contracted investments. What will happen in Brazil? People will take their foot off the accelerator. We have the announced tragedy that is not the ceiling burst, it is the ceiling burst,” she said.

For Côrtes, the president-elect and his party should continue to defend the spending ceiling as they did before, since, according to him, public spending must be respected.

“Minister Meirelles was President Lula’s minister. Then he should listen to his former minister’s opinion. Within the Union’s budget, we can indeed improve the budget, we can discuss the budget, but respect what the PT has been defending until now, when we approved the Auxílio Brasil of R$ 600. Today we have state-owned companies making a profit. We cannot agree that PT changes its opinions because of the elections. Public spending must be respected”.
