Dertha Awards 2025: Tortona becomes the capital of Italian gastronomic excellence

Derthona was the name that was once given to the city of Tortona, in the Alexandrine. Today, from there, wonderful products such as Timorasso arrive, the legendary Montebore cheese, the noble salami of the Giarolo and much more. Including i Dertha Awardswhich really celebrating gastronomy (local but not only) point the lights on all this.

On the stage of the Civic Theater of Tortonathe prizes dedicated to Italian gastronomic excellence were the protagonists of an evening of great emotional and cultural impact, thanks also to the presence of guests who declined the theme of great cuisine and the territory in all its nuances: from the entrepreneurial to the cultural approach, up to the intimate and direct story of what happens daily behind the scenes of a restaurant.

The voices of Italian cuisine

Undisputed protagonists of the evening, Simone Falseperla and David Fiordigiglio of the hand restaurant of Sirmione, rewarded for their intense story of friendship born and grown between the stove, have offered an authentic testimony of the human and professional value that was born in the kitchens.

Cristiano Tomeichef of Lucca’s funnel and well -known face of Italian television, he excited the public with a powerful appeal to the truth and intensity of contemporary cuisine.

Maddalena Fossatidirector of Italian cuisineretraced the path of our country towards the candidacy of Italian cuisine for UNESCO World Heritage Site, underlining the link between culture, identity and food.

The winners

The list of winners are long and popular, also composed of some of the best known and most popular names by the general public: Davide Oldani of the D’O restaurant in Cornado (two Michelin stars and green star); Benedetta Rossi, one of the best known faces of Italian cuisine; Iginio Massari, master of pastry; Erika Gottayoung chef at the head of the La Bursch restaurant in Campiglia Cervo and Anna Zhang – winner of the 13 of Masterchef Italia edition – who received the Golden Maggioreiano, the prize inspired by the last Roman emperor of the West who died in Tortona in 461, a symbol of rebirth and vision.

All local restaurateurs were also rewarded, gathered in the association led by the chef Anna Ghisolfi, Authentic narrative engine of local food and wine excellence. From dishes to tradition, from products to manufacturers, the association promotes with passion and concrete treasures such as the cherry of Garbagna, the festival of Volpedo and the noble salami of the Giarolo.

Special recognition also went to the team of Derthona Basket, Male and female, for the ability to become ambassador of the Tortone area in Italy and Europe.

Awarded too Leonardo Serranti, director of the Grand Hotel Principi of Piedmontfor the central role played in the relaunch of one of the most important Piedmontese hotels, today official home of the ATP Finals and the main international events hosted in Turin.

Finally, the Gerla groupawarded for the creation of their Academy dedicated to the formation of young people who wish to approach with seriousness and competence to the world of catering and the Hôtellerie.

On the stage of the Civic Theater of Tortona it was also awarded Valentina Frezzato, head of the editorial staff of La Stampa of Alessandriafor his choice to complete and grow his career in the area, dedicating himself to that precious local information which today is a key element for the story of the territories.

The evening was led by the radio speaker with Fabio De Vivocapable of combining rhythm, emotion and depth in an event that celebrated the best of gastronomic Italy.

The mayor Federico Chiodi and the councilor for culture Fabio Morreale underlined the importance of this moment for the path that Tortona and its territory are carrying out towards an increasingly relevant position on the atlas of world food and wine.

The presence of the world of wine is also decisive, with the intervention of the president of the Consortium Giampaolo Repetto and the visionary producer Walter Massa, the architect of the rebirth of the Derthona and the enhancement of the great local wines.

The stories of the protagonists and winners were read on the stage of the Civic Theater of Tortona from the splendid and intense voice of the writer Vanna Greggio.

It was a transversal journey, which touched all the realities that make the Italian taste great and that could only take place and develop in a place that is becoming great.

With the Dertha Awards, a new story of the gastronomic made in Italy opens, a story that starts from Tortona and that has the roots well planted in a territory in great growth, which wants not only to tell itself to Italy and the world, but to become a tool to tell all the most beautiful stories in our country. A path that after this first stop is destined to go on, to grow and consolidate. A great success capable of connecting and keeping together all the extraordinary energies of the Tortone area.
