Des Tesla “made in China” pour l’Europe

While Dacia will launch its Spring in 2021, an electric model made in China and announced as the cheapest electric model sold in Europe, Tesla will export to the old continent as of this month its own “zero emission” models produced in its new factory in Shanghai. These vehicles, Model 3, will be intended for “more than ten European countries, including Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland,” said the group of Elon Musk. “This decision demonstrates the excellence of Chinese manufacturing in the world,” he added.

Capacity of 500,000 cars per year

The American manufacturer built its third plant in the Chinese economic capital last year, after those in New York and Nevada, in a record time of 10 months. This first “mega-factory” outside the United States was first and foremost to give Tesla full access to the Chinese car market, now the world’s largest, including for Tesla. Covering approximately 865,000 m2, it aims to achieve an annual production capacity of at least 500,000 cars. Exporting to Europe allows the American manufacturer to supply the Old Continent while awaiting the commissioning of its fourth factory, which is due to open near Berlin. The Model 3 is more compact and less expensive than the brand’s Model S and Model X and Tesla is banking on it to become a mass producer.
