It is feasible and useful for the security of natural gas supply is the addition of a floating Liquefied Gas tank at the Revythousa terminal, DESFA sources point out to APE-MPE, noting however that it is very important that the solution is implemented quickly as the demand for infrastructure internationally is increased due to the war in Ukraine.
According to the decisions taken at the extraordinary meeting of the Crisis Management Committee of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, on Wednesday, under Minister Costas Skrekas, the Administrator will have to submit today a first cost-benefit analysis for the addition of the floating Liquefied Natural Reservoir (LNG).
As explained by the Administrator’s sources in APE-MPE, the usefulness of the floating tank is not only that the storage capacity in Revythousa will be upgraded (almost doubled), but mainly that the flexibility of the supply chain with LNG will increase. That is, there will be the possibility of accommodating ships in periods when the fixed tanks are full, so there will be the possibility of accommodating more ships in a period when the international demand for LNG cargo is increased.
