Design reflections: the mirrors that decorate the house

Mirrors are almost indispensable daily accessories, not only for their functionality, but also because capable of decorating and furnishing, emphasizing spaces and returning natural light.

To obtain the desired effect it is important to choose and place them correctly, positioning them following a few small tricks.

Being a lot versatile in terms of shape, color, size and finish, the mirrors adapt easily to any living environment, fitting naturally into both a minimalist style roomboth in a classic decor or vintage-inspired.

Certainly, in addition to serving to mirror ourselves, these accessories positioned in front of a window or a particularly bright floor lamp, contribute to increasing the natural light; they are therefore perfect for brightening up a dark corner.

But they can also be used successfully to artificially dilate a small space: this trick is particularly effective, for example, to make a narrow hallway more spacious or to widen a aisle very long and narrow.

Finally, mirrors, especially freestanding floor mirrors, can also be used for to separate two portions of the same room, for example the dining area from thestudy corner living room, or to play with proportions, perhaps by hanging a mirror on the ceiling or by choosing one with a particular shape, color and size.

Mistakes not to make

In the choice of mirrors and, above all, their positioning, there are also mistakes that it would be better not to make. One of these, very common, is the choice of coloring one mirror in front of the front door. Although it may be aesthetically harmonious, consider that no one likes to find themselves immediately reflected as soon as you enter someone else’s house, indeed the most classic effect is to get strange: better to avoid.

Even in places where concentration must be maintained, for example a study or an office corner, it is advisable not to place mirrors: as much as they are decorative accessories, they could easily be distracting elementsbecause of light they emanate and images they reflect.

If you are a follower of the Feng Shui, consider that the arrangement of the mirrors can have an impact on well-being and on the energy circulating in the room. It should therefore be avoided place the mirror in front of the bedabove all because it activates energy, interfering with moments of relaxation.
