The film “Despicable Me 4” hits theaters this Thursday (4). In the new animated feature, Gru welcomes a new member of the family, Gru Jr. However, his peaceful existence soon falls apart when a criminal mastermind escapes from prison and swears revenge on the antihero.
The title hits the big screen two years after the release of “Minions 2”, which tells the origin story of Gru, in 1970. In addition to the aforementioned film, four other animated films have already been released telling the story of the anti-hero and his faithful squires, the Minions.

“Despicable Me” (2010)
In the first film, released in 2010, supervillain Gru hatches a plan to steal the moon. With the support of his little helpers, the Minions, and his arsenal of weapons, Gru prepares to destroy anyone who gets in his way. However, he didn’t expect his biggest challenge: adorable orphans who want to be his daughters.
“Despicable Me 2” (2013)
The sequel to the film arrived soon after, in 2013. This time, Gru radically changes his life and dedicates himself to his daughters Agnes, Edith and Margo, leaving behind his time as a villain. He just didn’t count on his past being responsible for his recruitment by the Anti-Villain League to save the world in the company of agent Lucy.
Together, they need to locate the criminal. who stole the PX41 formula and Gru suspects that his former competitor El Macho is responsible.
“Minions” (2015)
Two years later, the Minions got a movie to tell their story. According to the film’s synopsis, the millennial yellow beings have a mission: to serve the greatest villains. Depressed since the death of their former master, they try to find a new boss.
Three volunteers, Kevin, Stuart and Bob, go to a villains convention in the United States and there they are enchanted by Scarlet Overkill, who wants to be the first woman to dominate the world.
“Despicable Me 3” (2017)
The third film about the anti-villain hit theaters in 2017. In this story, former child actor and TV star Balthazar Bratt returns to action. He terrorizes the lives of Gru, Agnes, Margo, Edith, Dr. Nefario and the Minions. In the midst of all this, Gru also meets his twin brother, Drew.
“Minions 2: The Rise of Gru” (2022)
The latest installment in the franchise was released two years ago with the Minions sequel. Set in the 1970s, the young Gru tries to join a team of supervillains, but the interview goes disastrous and he and his minions end up fleeing from the group of evildoers.
In 2017, “Despicable Me 3” was a huge box office success, surpassing the R$4.92 billion mark worldwide.
The economic mark surpassed the results of the “Shrek” saga, which, until then, was the highest-grossing animation in history.
