“Finland, for example, has a border of more than 1000 km with Russia and feels threatened, the logical way out is to join a military organization whose basic principle is the mutual defense of its member states”, he explained, in an interview. The CNN Radio .
Turkey has signaled that it will oppose Finland and Sweden joining the bloc. Kai Enno said current states needed unanimity to allow new members, but said he believed the Turks should not be a hindrance.
In theory, Turkey could block entry, but (Turkish President) Erdogan is under domestic pressure due to disastrous economic policy, with high inflation, and growing poverty, for him this stance serves to divert the focus from domestic problems.
