Detained Venezuelan opposition leader hospitalized in serious condition, family says

Former congressman detained in Venezuela, Williams Dávila, was admitted to a hospital on Tuesday night (13) in serious condition. The information was published this Wednesday (14) by his son William Dávila Valeri, in X.

“The worst predictions are coming true: my father, 73 years old, kidnapped on Thursday (8) for defending democratic values, was hospitalized last night in serious condition,” Dávila Valeri posted on X.

On Monday (12), in an interview with CNN he explained that they discovered, unofficially, that his father was in Helicoide prison.

The Center for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights in Venezuela, Defiende Venezuela, reported on social media that the opponent was detained by “collectives” on August 8 in Chacao, during a vigil for those detained in the post-election demonstrations.

Dávila Valeri stated that he was not involved in any conspiracy against Maduro, he just spoke in public about what he thinks of the government.

THE CNN tried to contact the Venezuelan Public Ministry to talk about the accusations against the ministry.

William Dávila Valeri assured that he still does not have clear information about his father’s situation and reprimanded the government for “keeping them in the dark”.
