The revision rates refer to the whole range of public works categories (approximately 500), including materials whose excessive price increase is observed for the first three quarters of 2021, and specifically to the materials steel, aluminum, copper , asphalt, wood, PVC and polyethylene and occupies all ongoing projects.
In addition, at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the establishment of the Company for Specifications and Pricing of Technical Works and Studies is at an advanced stage, where the participation of the private sector is foreseen. A horizontal procedure for monitoring fluctuations in material prices, as well as the pricing of technical works, is now in place, which will ensure competition in the construction industry from market distortions.
Through the new procedure that exists in the law L.4782 / 21, for the public contracts, the goal is to reflect in a realistic way in the prices of the works of the public works, the current prices of the market and thus, to be formed based on what is valid in real-time market.
