Detox diet after the holidays

Eliminating waste and toxins regularly is essential: our body is constantly exposed to substances that can damage it, such as pollution, smoke, junk food and drugs, but also sedentary life and stress contribute to producing waste harmful to organs and tissues.

The detox, in addition to being a weight loss diet, is mainly detoxifying and purifying. It is in fact suitable for all those who want to purify their body after a period of abuse from fatty foods or after the holidays, often characterized by days in which you eat more than you need and move less than you should.

Is exactly the body to let us know when the time has come to act: fatigue increases, exhaustion as well, unexpected skin spots or pimples appear and you feel more swollen.

How to set up a detox diet

To understand how to properly set up a detox diet, we consulted the Doctor Giordano Rossetti of the DOMUS Aesthetic Medicine Clinic, a doctor specializing in diet therapy and latest generation medical aesthetic therapies.

«From a detoxifying point of view, first of all it is necessary eliminate unnecessary fatty foods to our body: first of all sweets, especially if packaged, but also fried foods, carbonated drinks and alcoholic ones.

Also carboitrates must be reduced and in any case it is always better to choose pasta, bread and cereals that are totally wholemeal and refined ones. Regarding vegetables, prefer the raw ones as they maintain all their properties, otherwise it is important to always opt for light and low-calorie cooking, such as boiling. For snacks, which should not be eliminated, you can choose between fruit, fat-free Greek yogurt or centrifuged fruit and vegetables, perfect for recharging energy and purifying the body.

Finally, but I would say that it is the main and fundamental thing for the elimination of waste from our body, it is necessary hydrate properly, drinking at least one and a half liters of water. When you want to go on a detox diet it is good to increase up to two liters, to favor the elimination of waste and toxins from the lymphatic system and, consequently, the disposal of the stagnant liquids that cause cellulite and titention.

Go ahead also a infusions and herbal teas to drink lukewarm and without sugar. Among the most suitable herbs I recommend nettle, birch, mint, dandelion, burdock, fennel and green anise seeds, as well as white tea, an excellent antioxidant, able to keep the cholesterol level low. Two or three glasses of centrifuged or smoothies a day will then complete the water supply, of course always sugar free added “.

Here are five more tips by Doctor Rossetti, useful in all diets, but in particular in those which aim at detoxifying the organism.
