In Detroit, USA, a large leak of water caused unprecedented images. The roads were flooded and then frozen due to low temperatures. At the same time, about 300 inhabitants were forced to leave their homes, as the leak in a central water supply was flooded with icy water, leaving them without heating in the midst of polar cold. Two children, 9 -year -old Darnetll and 2 -year -old A’Milla Curry, lost their lives, probably in the cold as they lived with their family in a van. Many residents were transferred to hotels through municipal funding, but hundreds remained in their homes, which had been damaged or forced to flee to friends and relatives. Damage to a water supply pipeline for almost a century caused paralysis of key infrastructure in the city and the repair of damage, according to authorities, can take up to six weeks.
