The governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha, determined, this Thursday (27), in a decree published in the Official Gazette, a new ban on the public in sports competitions. The measure takes place after the advancement of the Ômicron variant of the coronavirus.

“Having a football game with 40,000 people, 50,000 people, is not recommended at a time like this”, declared Ibaneis.

Five articles of Decree 42,730 of November 23, 2021, which defined rules for the resumption of events, were revoked, namely:

  • Persons immunized against Covid-19, upon proof of immunization, after fifteen days of receiving the second dose of the vaccine or the single dose, in the cases indicated by the manufacturer.
  • People who cannot take the vaccine due to the guidelines of the health authorities, upon proof of impossibility, are excluded from the presentation of proof of vaccination.

  • Organization of entry and exit from the competition venue in order to avoid crowds.
  • Consumption of food and beverages will be done preferably in their seats, consumption in common areas being prohibited, unless the common area complies with the protocols established in item C of the Sole Annex of this Decree.

In a decree published on January 19, the use of face protection masks against Covid-19 was once again required “in all public spaces, including outdoor environments, public roads, collective public transport equipment, commercial establishments, industrial and service areas and in the common use areas of residential and commercial condominiums within the Federal District.

The DF had released the presence of the public in a decree of July 15, 2021. At first, 25% of capacity was authorized, provided that fans proved they were vaccinated against Covid-19 or presented an RT-test. Negative PCR for the disease issued up to 48 hours before departure.

At the time, the Mané Garrincha stadium hosted the game between Flamengo and Defensa y Justícia, from Argentina, for the Copa Libertadores da América, on the 21st of the same month. Cariocas won 4-1.
