Died aged 20 in Italy after suffering allergic shock after eating tiramisu which was presented to her as Vegan

A homicide investigation began after death of a 20-year-old girl who had allergy at the dairy after being served a tiramisu dessert made with milk. Anna Bellisario and her boyfriend had dined at a fast food restaurant in Milan on January 26 last year, Italian media reports.

He suffered anaphylactic shock and died on February 5 at San Raffaele Hospital. Two women who ran a pastry shop that supplied the restaurant in question are under investigation for manslaughter, Italian daily Corriere della Sera reports. According to the investigation, those in charge pastry shop, had confused the invoice of vegan sweets with desserts that contained milk, as suggested in the first part of the investigation, the paper said.

It is alleged that the company did not prevent the mixing of the two production lines in the workshop of the pastry shop, then supplier to 63 Italian restaurants of the vegan product Tiramisu.

In a reconstruction by prosecutors Tiziana Siciliano and Luca Gaglio on Monday, investigator Fiammetta Modica, using information based in part on wiretapping that “creates a disturbing image of unconscionability,” ordered the ban on the workshop's owners, a mother and daughter, reports the newspaper. It was suggested that if the separation of ingredients and environment had been respected and staff had received proper training, instead of a four-hour course, there would have been no mixing of casein with plant-based products. Also, the unfortunate girl took medicine for asthma and cortisone, which she always carried with her, but shortly afterwards she lost consciousness, reports the DailyMail.

The girl suffered from an allergy to Dairy Products from a very young age.

The Italian authorities found traces of milk protein in other packages of tiramisu of the same brand. But in addition to this, traces of egg were found in the mayonnaise that contained the vegan sandwich, which the girl ate that fateful day at the fast food restaurant.

The Italian Ministry of Health withdrew the product Tiramisu Mascherpa from the market on February 6, 2023, due to the possibility that it may contain milk proteinwhich was not listed on the label.
