Diesel is stable in December at gas stations, but rises 46.1% in 12 months

The average price of diesel at gas stations fuels do Brasil was practically stable in December in the monthly comparison, but ended the year with an increase of 46.1%, points out a survey by Ticket Log released this Wednesday (29).

The average value of a liter of diesel at service stations reached 5,612 reais in December. In the same month last year, the value was 3.841 reais per liter, according to the Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL).

During the year, Brazil faced an escalation in fuel prices, with successive readjustments in refineries by Petrobras, reflecting the rise in oil prices in the international market and the exchange rate, which impacts the value of imported fuel.

As a result, fuels – notably gasoline, with a direct impact on consumer price indices – became one of the main factors of inflationary pressure in the country.

Ticket Log, Edenred Brasil’s fleet management and mobility solutions brand, stated that almost all regions of the country showed a decline or stability in the value of fuel in December.

The highlight was the South, with the lowest average and low values of 0.29% and 0.23% in the prices of common diesel and S-10, respectively, compared to November.

In the North region, prices showed an upward trend, with slight increases of 0.03% and 0.05% for common fuel and S-10, in that order.

The Ticket Log index, obtained based on refueling carried out at 21,000 accredited service stations, also pointed to an increase in diesel prices sold by service stations during the Christmas holiday.

Between the 24th, 25th and 26th of December, the common diesel was sold at a price 45.3% higher, on average, compared to the same period last year, while the S-10 diesel showed an increase of 44.36 %.
