The average price of diesel at service stations in Brazil maintained the downward trend observed in December until now, according to the Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL) published this Friday (13).
Common diesel fell 0.64% in the first 12 days of the month compared to December, to R$ 6.79 a liter, while diesel S-10 (with lower sulfur content) fell 0.61% in the same comparison, to R$ $6.91.
The IPTL had dropped in December compared to the previous month, after Petrobras reduced the average price of diesel sold to distributors by 8.18% and that of gasoline by 6.1%, earlier that month.
“Diesel… continues to fall at the beginning of 2023. According to the IPTL, (but) when we compare the price of the two types with the same month of 2022, the value is still 18% more expensive for drivers”, pondered the general director of Mobility at Edenred Brasil.
The retreat in the first days of January comes after the government decided to extend the PIS/Cofins exemption on fossil fuels until the end of 2023, extending a decision taken by the previous government last year to reduce inflation.
