Digital vehicle transfer can be made from March

The Ministry of Economy reported on Tuesday (15) that from March onwards, drivers will be able to transfer vehicles to new owners using the free digital signature that will be available in the Digital Transit Wallet (CDT) application.

In this way, the purchase and sale between individuals will no longer have the need to recognize a firm or sign a paper contract.

The transfer authorization can be made through the gov.br platform, provided that the vehicle documentation is digital – cars left the factory or transferred from January 4, 2021.

According to the official statement, “in the operation, the seller will access the CDT application, inform the buyer’s CPF and digitally sign. The buyer will receive the notification and repeat the process. The authorization will go directly to the Federal Government system”.

After the process, it will be necessary to take the vehicle for inspection at the local traffic department and carry out the transfer.

To carry out the digital transaction, both sellers and buyers must have a silver or gold login on the Gov.br platform. The account can be created through the official website (https://sso.acesso.gov.br).

Upgrade Account Level

In general, recently created accounts on the platform have a bronze level — that is, a level of security considered basic and partial access to government digital services.

To be upgraded to Silver level, you must:

  • Facial validation by the gov.br application, checking your photo on the basis of the Driver’s License (CNH)
  • Validation of personal data through the internet banking of an accredited bank
  • Validation of data with SIGEPE username and password, if the user is a federal public servant

To upgrade to gold level, you need:

  • Facial validation by the gov.br application, by checking the user’s photo with the Electoral Justice bases
  • Validation of your data with a Digital Certificate compatible with ICP-Brasil
