A funeral ceremony for Hamas leader Ismail Haniya was held today in Qatar, two days after he was assassinated in the Iranian capital, Tehran. Among those attending the ceremony at a large mosque north of the capital Doha was Khaled Meshaal, who is tipped to be the new leader of Hamas. Other senior Hamas officials as well as the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, were also present. Haniya will be buried in a cemetery in the city of Lusail, north of Doha.
