Diplo remixes classics and funk hits at Madonna's show opening

On Saturday night (04), DJ Diplo was responsible for being the official opening act for the Madonna . Fans who were waiting on Copacabana beach were able to enjoy the DJ's set before the queen of pop's performance.

Diplo has a special relationship with Rio de Janeiro. His first time in the capital of Rio was 2004 and, as he said during the show, it is his “second home”.

“Sing with me”, he asked when the show was still starting to heat up. At first, she performed songs like “Summertime Sadness” by Lana Del Rey and “Hotel” by Pitbull.

After playing the foreign songs, it was funk's turn to dominate the American DJ's set.

The first Brazilian remixed track was not funk but “Baianá”. Barbartuques' music is usually a hit among DJs and has even been remixed by Alok.

Diplo then threw himself into mixing and remixing several Brazilian funk tracks.

The first was “Nova Geração” from Furacão 2000 exactly to make everyone “dance with emotion”.

This part of the presentation also included “Atoladinha” by Bola de Fogo with Tati Quebra Barraco.

One of the greatest precursors of funk and a pioneer among women of the genre, Tati Quebra Barraco was also used in the reproduction of “Boladona”.

Diplo also played hits such as “Baile de Favela” by MC João, “Se Tá Solteira” by FBC from Minas Gerais, “Oh Juliana” by MC Niack and “Fala de Mim”, from when Ludmilla was still MC Beyoncé.

Among the recent titles, Diplo played “Tá OK” by Kevin O Chris with Dennis, who rocked with “Tira a Camisa”. The remixed version of “Tá OK” features Karol G singing the same verses.

He then asks people to take out their cell phones with the flashlights on to the sound of lines from MC Lan, Funk Rave. The song was recorded with Diplo at Major Lazer in partnership with Lan and Anitta.

He then plays “Savage Funk”, one of Anitta’s recent songs, which was released on the album “Funk Generation”.

Throughout the show, Diplo also played with international songs mixed with funk.

An example is the remix with DJ GBR’s track “Sexy and I Know It”.

I love you so much, Rio ” (“I love you so much, Rio”), he said.

Towards the end of the set, Diplo also mixed “Macetando”, by Ivete Sangalo and Ludmilla, with electronics.

Finally, he thanked Rio de Janeiro and ended the show shortly before 9:20 pm.

Diplo even wore a yellow Brazilian team shirt at the end of the presentation, only to take it off a few seconds later and throw it into the audience.
