Diplomatic boycott signals new tension dynamics between US and China

The US government announced earlier this week that it has decided not to send any diplomatic representatives to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. The gesture was a protest demonstration of allegations of human rights abuses by China in the Xinjiang region. Chinese authorities stated that the US announcement was an act of “political manipulation” and signaled that the gesture could have consequences for the course of relations between the two countries.

In this episode of E Tem Mais, Carol Nogueira presents a balance of reactions to the new dynamics of tension between the United States and China. To describe the possible impacts of the diplomatic boycott announced by the White House and the new directions of the political dispute between the two powers, the researcher Thiago de Aragão, from Arko Advice and the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and the professor of relations participate in this episode internationals Carlos Gustavo Poggio, from Faap.
