The governor of Tocantins, Wanderlei Barbosa, removed the director and military police officers from the Colégio Militar Euclides Bezerra Gerais, in Paranã, south of the state, after the repercussion of a video that shows students marching and singing a song with violent content.
The dismissal was published in an edition of the Official Gazette on Thursday (21), the state government said in a note. In the video, a police officer says the phrase out loud, repeated in chorus by the marching uniformed students, in the form of a lectern.
“As soon as he learned of the case, the governor of Tocantins, Wanderlei Barbosa, ordered the Military Police to immediately remove the director of the school institution and other military personnel involved from school activities, in addition to demanding that the case be investigated and that all appropriate measures be taken. be taken, in accordance with the legal and disciplinary procedures of the institution. In relation to the State Department of Education (Seduc), the establishment of an investigation commission was determined to investigate the situation and ensure that such an occurrence does not happen again,” the government said in a statement.
The verses sung by the students included phrases clearly condoning violence:
“You will remember me

And if I don’t kill you
I will arrest you
I’ll invade your mind
I won’t let you sleep
And in the infiltrations you will remember me”
According to state management, the episode is being considered an isolated case, which does not reflect the reality of militarized schools in the state.
The case
A song led by a military police officer at Colégio Militar Euclides Bezerra Gerais, in the city of Paranã (TO), generated controversy on social media after the lyrics. The case happened last Thursday (21).
In the song, the agent instructs the children who are marching to sing the lyrics, which in a certain part say: “If I don’t kill you, I’ll arrest you”.
After the incident, the director of the educational institution and other military personnel involved in school activities were removed by order of the state governor, Wanderlei Barbosa.
According to the State Department of Education (Seduc) in a note, “it was determined to establish an investigation commission to investigate the situation and ensure that such an occurrence does not happen again.” The ministry also reported that what happened was an “isolated case.”
To CNN, the Tocantins Military Police said that the case was “an extracurricular activity” carried out at the school, and reinforced that the evaluation “was a one-off action, which is not part of the daily routine of the school unit.”
