Direxion Withdraws Application To Launch Bitcoin Futures ETF

Direxion has asked the SEC to cancel its Bitcoin Futures ETF listing application to revise several provisions.

Direxion, a financial product launch and management company, has withdrawn its filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch an ETF on Bitcoin futures.

a statement it said that the employees of the investment management department demanded to withdraw the application for the reasons indicated in a letter from the former director of the department Dalia Blass on January 18, 2018. In addition, the document states that the securities were not sold. The Trust will have an informal discussion with staff and plans to achieve the result by amending the registration application as soon as possible. Direxion is asking the Commission to issue an order withdrawing the amendment.

As a reminder, Direxion filed with Valkyrie in October. According to the documents, the Bitcoin Strategy Bear ETF was planning to invest in bitcoin futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). But later, information appeared that the application, most likely, would not be approved.
