The Greek market is looking for additional quantities of natural gas from the TAP pipeline, according to information from APE, in addition to the liquefied natural gas loads that are expected in the coming days at the DESFA facilities in Revythousa.
According to the same information, the first exploratory talks with the Shah Deniz consortium in Azerbaijan took place today. The TAP pipeline started delivering natural gas to the Greek market in December 2020 and according to DESFA data, it covered 17.5% of domestic consumption last year.
As for the Liquefied Natural Gas, which is imported by ships to the facilities of Revythousa where it is gasified to enter the transmission system, the planning so far for the first fortnight of March includes the unloading of four cargoes by the companies Mytilineos, Elpedison , which at times depletes the storage capacity of the Station, which reaches 225,000 cubic meters of liquefied gas.
In any case, the main “line of defense” for the Greek energy system is the supply of diesel oil to the natural gas units that have this technical capability, in order to ensure the production of electricity and to reduce the demand for natural gas.
Tomorrow morning, the crisis management committee under the Minister of Environment and Energy, Costas Skrekas, will hold an extraordinary meeting.
