Disney announces new themed areas at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom

A Disney has more projects underway for the next decade than at any time in the company’s history. At least that’s what it promises Josh D’Amaro president of Disney parks, experiences and products, who revealed news about the company’s parks on Saturday (9).

During Disney’s biggest fan event, the Destination D23 new areas, shows and attractions were presented in the company’s parks, with emphasis on the Florida complex .

Major expansions in Magic Kingdom a new area in the AnimalKingdom and reimagined attractions and shows in Epcot were some of the revelations of the event. Check out the news Disney is preparing for the coming years below:

New area and experiences at Animal Kingdom

The region of Dinoland USA it must be reimagined over the next few years and must transform into a new thematic area. The area should be inspired by the theme of “Tropical Americas”, as announced at the event.

Thus, the team of Imagineers, who create Disney themed areas, are inspired by the northern part of South America and Central America. As revealed at the event, experiences inspired by the film “Charm ”, which takes place in Colombia, and also in the saga of “Indiana Jones” are being considered for the new park area.

Already the Tree of Life , a central element of Animal Kingdom, will get a new show. The attraction’s cinema will no longer present the current show “It’s Tough to be a Bug”, inspired by the animation “A Bug’s Life”, and will instead have a presentation based on “Zootopia ”. There is no set date for the change yet.

New attraction and show at Epcot

The famous attraction Test Track , opened in 1999 at Epcot, will take on a new look. The attraction must be reimagined over the coming years with inspiration from its past, based on the World of Motion, which previously existed in the same location, and must bring a spirit of “optimism”.

Even with little information, other new features are already on the park’s horizon: the new experience Journey of Water inspired by “Moana” will officially open on October 16th this year.

The family-friendly, self-guided attraction is like a path of lush, scenic trails inspired by the film and with water as its main element.

From December 5th, a new night show in the park called “Luminous The Symphony of Us ”. As revealed at the Destination D23 event, the show features fireworks, fountains, lasers, lighting effects and music.

Expansion at Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom is expected to undergo an expansion that is “one of the biggest ever for the park,” as Bruce Vaughn, creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering, said.

Imagineers are looking for similar stories on the scale of the Star Wars: Galaxy Edge themed area, present in both Disneyland Park in California and Hollywood Studios in Florida, as well as the Pandora – The World of Avatar area in AnimalKingdom.

The new area is expected to bring together attractions, restaurants and shows, but no specific date for construction or opening has been revealed.
