THE Disney became the first studio to achieve revenue of US$5 billion (approximately R$30 billion) in one year, since the beginning of the pandemic Covid-19 . According to Deadline, this mark was reached last Sunday (22).
The website estimates that, of the US$5 billion, around US$2 billion (R$ 12 billion) comes from North America and US$3 billion (R$ 18 billion) from international markets.
The company’s biggest success this year is “Inside Out 2”, which grossed US$ 1.6 billion (R$ 9.8 billion), becoming the number 1 film of the year in the world and the biggest animation of all time . Next is “Deadpool & Wolverine“, with US$1.3 billion (R$7.9 billion) worldwide, which became the highest-grossing R-rated film in history.
The most recent premiere of the sequel “Moana 2” has already grossed around US$719 million (R$4.4 billion) until last weekend.
Other successes for the company this year include “Planet of the Apes: The Reign”, with US$398 million (R$ 2.4 billion) globally, and “Alien: Romulus“, which reached US$351 million (R$ 2.1 billion) worldwide.
2024 also marks the sixth time that Disney has surpassed the US$5 billion (approximately R$30 billion) since 2010.
