The Walt Disney Co. announced that advertisers have agreed to buy $9 billion worth of ads across its various channels and streaming services for the 2022-2023 TV season, according to Bloomberg.
Disney reported Monday that so-called advance purchases were the strongest in the company’s history. About 40% of spending was on its online offerings, including streaming services Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.
The company also said it has received commitments from all major advertising agencies for the Disney+ service. Disney is expected to introduce a lower-priced, ad-supported service for the $8-a-month service later this year.
The cost and volume of sports advertising on ESPN and other media rose by double digits for the second year in a row, Disney said.
