The Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (Cemig) informed this Saturday (6) that the distribution tower hit by the aircraft carrying the singer Marília Mendonça is outside the protection zone of the Caratinga Aerodrome, in Minas Gerais.
The singer and four other people died in the plane crash on Friday afternoon (5). The accident happened in Piedade de Caratinga, in Vale do Rio Doce, in the west of Minas Gerais. The plane crashed at a distance of three kilometers from the airport in Caratinga, the city where the singer would perform.
The aircraft fell into a watercourse near an access road on the BR-474 highway. Cemig reported that the plane hit a cable in a company’s power distribution tower in Caratinga.
“We reiterate that Cemig strictly follows the Brazilian Technical Standards and the regulations in force in all of its projects. Investigations by the competent authorities will clarify the causes of the accident. The Company once again regrets this tragic incident and sympathizes with the victims’ relatives and friends,” says Cemig in a statement this Saturday.
Seripa 3 investigators have been at the crash site since this morning.
According to the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), investigators will “identify evidence, photograph the scenes, remove parts of the aircraft for analysis, listen to witness reports, gather documents, etc. There is no scheduled time for this activity to occur, depending on the complexity of the occurrence.”

wake and burial
The wake of singer Marília Mendonça and her uncle and advisor, Abicieli Silveira Dias Filho, should start around 12:30 pm this Saturday, in Goiânia. The bodies of the two arrived in Goiás around 10:25 am.
The bodies of Marília Mendonça and Abicieli will be veiled in the Goiânia Arena gym. Initially, the ceremony will be restricted to family members, but the expectation is that from 1 pm onwards, the public will be able to pay homage to the artist. About 100,000 people are expected on site, which should receive the population.
According to the Municipal Mobility Department of the capital of Goiás, there will be a procession from the Goiânia Arena gym to the Parque Memorial Cemetery. The burial, which will only include family members, is scheduled for 5:30 pm, but can be postponed so that the public in the gym can say goodbye.
