The Brazilian medium DIVALDO FRANCO He died on Tuesday night (13) in Salvador, Bahia, as a result of bladder cancer. He was a reference in spiritualism and considered one of the successors of Chico Xavier.
The two religious leaders were friends for years to a disagreement in the 1960s that led them to be without talking. After Chico Xavier’s death in 2002, the Bahian became the main name of Spiritism in Brazil.
“Edvaldo was, say, the last of Brazil’s great mediums. He, as younger, sought guidance with those who had the most experience, so he went to Pedro Leopoldo to consult with Chico Xavier. (…) They were very friendly, right,” said Mário Sérgio, president of the Way Mansion, in an interview with CNN .
Mario Sérgio, however, pointed out that there is no “succession” in spiritualism.
“There are men who came as human advice, bringing information from the spirit world, establishing contact between the spirit world and the physical world. So this very good and very profitable Chico relationship for Edvaldo. Certainly, this friendship is not from the present day, he comes from priscas remote,” he explained.
“These mediums are not medium in one existence. They come from centuries, working and developing. (…) The mediumship of Chico and Edivaldo are from other reincarnations that have improved in this existence,” he said.
Chico Xavier and Divaldo Franco met in 1948, when they had 38 and 21, respectively. The friendship lasted until the 1960s, when the Bahian medium was accused of plagiarizing the psychographed messages of his friend and mentor.
It is not known if the two religious leaders eventually resumed contact.
