Diversity does not exclude talent and brings corporate results, says expert

The founder and CEO of startup Blend Edu Thalita Gelenske believes that “diversity goes hand in hand with talent” and brings “positive impacts” to companies.

THE CNN Radio on CNN No Plural, she explained that she works to make companies understand that “bringing diversity does not mean lowering the bar.”

“When we talk about increasing representation, it means looking for talent that may not be obvious, with different audiences.”

Likewise, it is important to “understand which requirements are really necessary” for hiring and not just exclusions.

A study by Blend Edu heard 117 Brazilian companies, from all regions of the country, with active diversity programs, about the corporate environment.

“77% say that the objective is to engage collaborators in the creation of an inclusive culture, the same pointed out in 2020, which demands cultural transformation.”

Another point that Thalita highlighted was the dimensions of diversity. “Like 200, gender, race, the LGBTQIA+ community and people with disabilities are the most cited.”

At the same time, “we noticed an advance in the generational theme, which increased by 19%, and also in the racial theme.”

There was an increase in companies that claim to have a specific and dedicated area for diversity and inclusion management, jumping from 64% in 2020 to 71% in 2022.

For the expert, diversity is a “one-way street”.
