Djokovic positive in December, the lawyers: “Exemption from vaccination is legal”

As had been hypothesized by many, the motivation that allowed Novak Djokovic to have a medical exemption to participate in Australian Open is thehaving had Covid in the past six months. This is what the papers presented by the Serbian tennis player’s lawyers say for the hearing on Monday 10 January which must establish whether he has the right to stay in Australia.

“The registration date of the first positive Covid test is December 16, 2021”, reads the papers sent to the court. The number one in the world would therefore be exempt because he was immune after contracting the disease. It would be the second time for Nole, who already had Covid in June 2020 in the outbreak born after the tournament he organized in Serbia.

So far the tennis player he never said he tested positive for the virus again, he just said he had an exemption. This exemption was ascertained by two medical commissions sent by the tournament organizers. It is valid for playing, but it is not certain that it is valid for entering the country. On the online page that explains how to enter Australia, healing is not explicitly indicated among the possible exemptions for entry into the country and the central government has the competence on visas, not the local government of the state of Victoria where the tournament takes place.

For this Novak Djokovic was stopped and transferred in a hotel used for asylum seekers and for those who enter the country without a regular visa. The tennis player was not allowed to move into the apartment where his team is. Outside the structure there are many of his fans who have come to support him and also many who ask for attention for the other people who are in the structure.

“Djokovic is not detained. You can leave the country when you want and the border police will do everything to facilitate your departure, “said the Australian Interior Minister. Karen Andrews, responding to the protests and also to the controversies that have come from Serbia. Nole’s family compared him to Spartacus and “Jesus Christ crucified and humiliated”.

Djokovic yesterday thanked those who are supporting him with a social message. “Thanks to my family, my loved ones, Serbia and all the good people in the world who have sent me their support. Thanks be to God for health ”he wrote adding that he appreciated the closeness of so many.
