Roskosmos and RSC Energia signed a contract for the development of a draft design of the Russian Orbital Station. The head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, wrote about this on his Telegram channel. He backed up his message with images of what the station would look like.

The design will be carried out in two stages. The first is the analysis of scenarios for the deployment and inclination of the orbit, the calculation of the cost of delivering 1 kg of cargo, the deployment of the initial configuration and the transition of spacecraft from the ROS orbit to the circumlunar one. The second is the development of a draft design and technical specifications for station options, consideration of communication opportunities, issues of crew training, operation in unmanned and manned modes. What the Russian orbital station will look like at the first and second stages of deployment is well demonstrated by the images above.

According to Dmitry Rogozin, the main purpose of the station is to ensure the targeted use of a new generation of orbital manned infrastructure to realize the national interests of the Russian Federation in the field of manned activities, the development of science and the economy.
