The hearings began on Wednesday afternoon, September 6, in the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow. Before the start of the meeting, which was attended by a Bits.media correspondent, Dmitry Khavchenko, who first became known in the self-proclaimed DPR under the nickname “Sailor”, appeared in the corridor in front of journalists and just listeners. Until now, he was considered the main official beneficiary of the proceedings, according to the materials of the criminal case initiated in February 2022 about the collapse of Wex. The main defendant in the case is Aleksey Bilyuchenko, who ended up in the dock of the Meshchansky Court.
The property of Wex, mainly stolen assets of users, was estimated at 16 billion rubles. There were no other owners of the stock exchange, except for Khavchenko. However, on the sidelines of the court, the Sailor announced that on August 26 his company was seized by a “raider way” and rewritten (in his words) to a figurehead – a certain citizen of Armenia.
“How did this happen, can you explain to me? Did you buy a company from me?!” Khavchenko asked the lawyer Inessa Simonenkova, who represented the interests of Wex, in a raised voice (it was the company, the legal entity, that was recognized as the victim).
The lawyer replied that she was ready to discuss the issue only within the framework of the court session and “in the legal field.”
“Diplomacy is over with you! Now there will be a different conversation, ”Havchenko threatened, adding that he would file a statement with the DPR police in Singapore, where Wex is registered.
At the very beginning of the meeting, the company representing the interests announced that the Moryachok’s fears were justified:
“In July 2023, changes were made to the registration data of the company, and Igor Pravdin became its sole shareholder and CEO.”
Judge Varvara Oganova asked Khavchenko: “Are you a representative of the victim?”
“Now I do not know. Weird paperwork provided and my regulator is now being dismantled. I want to make a statement that I did not sell the company. I think this man is a swindler, just like his lawyer. I just heard about the change in leadership.”
The judge refused to attach documents – as well as to replace the representative of the victim. According to Oganova’s decision, Khavchenko remained the only victim in the case.
The full version of the report from the court session will be released on Bits.media.
