Due to the risk of landslides in other municipalities in Amazonas, the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) announced, this Tuesday (9), that it will declare an emergency situation in all federal ports in Amazonas.
According to the director of Waterway Infrastructure at DNIT, Erick Moura, the measure aims to avoid the same disaster that occurred in Manacapuru, metropolitan region of Manaus.
“DNIT’s intention is to declare an emergency situation so that we can be more agile and avoid new situations like those in Manacapuru. I have already determined that the technical team should make a note so that we can publish this in the official journal”, says Moura.
The search for the missing was suspended due to the lack of nighttime visibility. Unlike data from Manacapuru City Hall, the Amazonas Civil Defense only confirms two missing people.

The Firefighter diver states that “now we are trying to understand what the kinematics looked like after the accident, where the material went. Only then will we have an idea of where the bodies might be, where they are most likely to be found”, says Lieutenant Eduardo Pinheiro.
